For the past few months I have been getting tons of spam like comments from anonymous sources. Now I do love getting comments but not the ones that have nothing to do with the blog topic or ones that include links to another site that is hidden within the post.
I hope this doesn't offend anyone and I do moderate my comments so technically you never see the spam comments. But do the increasing numbers now ( I use to average 4-5 spam comments a week but now its 5+ a day) I am no longer allowing anonymous comments.
To those spammers who are sending me spam you are really trying to hid it because you are going back to much older posts. Is it really worth it?
So thankfully you my blogger friends never use the anonymous feature to post so it should all be good. Just remember if you comment and don't see it, its because I have to approve all comments.

ReplyDeleteI've never allowed anonymous comments and I don't see much spam, although occasionally I have to check that Google hasn't marked a comment as spam that isn't. Hopefully this stops a lot of the spammy comments for you!
ReplyDeleteIt's been increasing for me, too, and I recently had to do the same thing. I know some legitimate people have difficulty commenting as a result, but I'm not sure how else to get around it. (And even then, it doesn't block all of the spam ... just some of it.) It's maddening. But, it isn't just you ... if that's any consolation.
ReplyDeleteSpam blows! I stopped allowing anonymous comments several months ago when someone left a one on a review of a book that I didn't like, that basically said I should read the book again because I was wrong.
ReplyDeleteI don't get a ton of spam but I'm really sorry that you are dealing with it. Hopefully this will solve the problem.
